Privacy Policy

Last updated: 11 September 2026

This policy explains what personal data jaexam collects when you use jaexam.com and the jaexam application, why we collect it, and what rights you have. We are the controller for that data.

1. Data we collect

  • Account data — name, email address and password hash, or the identifier returned by your chosen single sign-on provider.
  • Exam data — your answers, written submissions, audio recordings, scores and progress history.
  • Billing data — handled by our payment processor. We store only the subscription status and invoice references, never full card details.
  • Technical data — IP address, browser and device type, and timestamps, kept in server logs for security and troubleshooting.

2. Why we process it

  • To provide the service you signed up for, including producing your AI feedback and scorecards (performance of a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR).
  • To keep accounts secure and prevent abuse (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR).
  • To meet accounting and tax obligations (legal obligation, Art. 6(1)(c) GDPR).
  • To send product email you can unsubscribe from at any time (consent, Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR).

3. AI processing of your submissions

Your written texts and audio recordings are sent to our AI evaluation service to generate your rubric scores and feedback. They are processed for that purpose only. We do not sell them, use them for advertising, or make them available to other users.

4. Where your data is stored

Account and exam data is stored on infrastructure located in the European Union. Where a sub-processor operates outside the EU, the transfer is covered by the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

5. How long we keep it

Exam attempts and recordings are retained while your account is active so you can track progress. Delete an individual attempt at any time from your account, or delete the whole account to remove all associated data. Records we must keep for tax purposes are retained for the statutory period.

6. Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port your data, and to object to processing based on legitimate interest. Where processing rests on consent, you may withdraw it at any time. Write to support@jaexam.com and we will respond within one month. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.

7. Cookies

This marketing site sets no tracking or advertising cookies. The application sets a strictly necessary session cookie so you stay signed in. If we later add analytics, we will ask for your consent first and update this page.
